Number of tourists visiting a Caribbean Island (2010 - 2017) - Task 1 Response
Overall, the total number of tourists has drastically increased in 2017 as compared to 2010, reaching 3.5 million visitors in total which is 2.5 million more as compared to in 2010.
According to the line graph, visitors staying on cruise ships increased by a huge number over the time of seven years. In the beginning, the number of visitors fluctuated from 2010 to 2012, starting from approximately 0.25 million to reaching the mark of 0.5 million in 2011 then going back to 0.25 million in the following year. However, the Caribbean island witnessed consistent growth in the number of visitors staying on cruise ships later on. The number of visitors staying on cruise ships surpassed the number of visitors staying on the island in around mid-2015 which then reached the highest in 2017 with 2 million visitors on cruise ships.
In contrast, the growth in the number of visitors staying on the island is not as rapid as the number of visitors staying on cruise ships. Starting from about 0.75 million in 2010, no growth was observed in the following year. Then after, a rise in the number of visitors staying on the island was observed, reaching 1.5 million visitors in 2013. However, for the coming 3 years, the island experienced no increase in the number of visitors staying on the island. Then after, the number of visitors staying on the island lost its lead with a decrease of approximately 0.25 million in 2016 as compared to the previous year, which again recovered in 2017 reaching the same point as in 2015.
